Certificate in Adult and Community Education

The Graduate Certificate in Adult and Community Education provides course for professionals who have responsibilities for continuing education, lifelong learning, or other education for adults in government agencies, companies, community settings, academia, voluteer or nonprofit organizations, or other places learning occurs.

Companies spend more than $340 billion on employee training and development, averaging more than $1500 per employee per year. (Bersin & Associates, the leading research and advisory company for corporate learning, talent management, and HR, 2024). In many cases, it’s the employees themselves that are looking to advance their skills, earn a promotion, or change career paths. Meanwhile, workers transitioning from an industrial economy into a knowledge-based economy need relevant skills to succeed in today’s occupational marketplace.

Whether your interest is facilitating professional and continuing education, human resource development, workplace learning, distance education, adult and family literacy, or other areas of specialized practice, organizations and companies always need education programs delivered to their work force.

Targeted to non-traditional students, typically 25 or older, Ball State’s graduate certificate in adult education is ideal for professionals who want skills for designing, implementing, and evaluating adult and community education programs.
