Secondary Transition to Teaching


This 18-credit Secondary Transition to Teaching program allows individuals who have an undergraduate degree in a field that aligns to a secondary licensure area to become eligible for an Indiana teaching license.

This secondary transition to teaching program can be completed in the following content areas for grades 6-12: Biology, Business, Chemistry, Chinese (Mandarin), Computer Science, CTE: Engineering and Technology, CTE: Family and Consumer Science, CTE: Health Sciences, Earth/Space Science, English/Language Arts, French, German, Health, Japanese, Journalism, Latin, Math, Music (grades 6-12 only), Physical Education (grades 6-12 only) Physics, Social Studies (all areas), Spanish, Theater (grades 6-12 only), Visual Art (grades 6-12 only).

Students in the Secondary Transition to Teaching program must maintain a B average in all classes. Students earning lower than a B- in any course will be required to retake that course before progressing to EDSE 680 Student Teaching: Secondary School. Students may only retake a course one time.
