Applied Business Studies

The Department of Applied Business Studies offers industry-specific educational opportunities that are designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to excel in the fashion, hospitality, and property management industries. We value the contributions of our faculty and students, who are actively involved in industry activities and community engagement at local, state, and national levels.
Our vision is to be the leader in applied business knowledge, fostering the development of future leaders in the fashion, hospitality, and property management industries. We emphasize the connection between theory and practice, preparing our students to lead with innovative ideas and creative problem-solving abilities.
Students may select programs in:
- Fashion Industry Studies—an exploration of the foundations of fashion design and merchandising as well as the theory and practice of the industry, including promotion, marketing, buying, manufacturing, and visual merchandising.
- Hospitality Innovation and Leadership – study of a blend of theories relating to management and financial service practices in the three main industry areas of event planning, food and beverage management, and hotel management.
- Property Management – covers the development, management, operation, marketing, legal, and financial aspects of operating apartment/multi-family housing, commercial office, hospitality, retail, and other sectors of real estate investments that are operated for commercial purposes.
