POLS 478 Internship in Government, Politics, or Non-Profit Organizations
Part- or full-time internship experience in a government office, political campaign, non-profit organization, or other non-governmental sector equivalent organization or firm concerned with government, politics, public policy, or public service. Work assignments and credit hours depend upon the interest of the student and the needs of the sponsor(s) per the chart below. A total of 15 credit hours may be earned, but no more than 12 in one semester or term.
3 credits at least 150 total working hours
6 credits at least 300 total working hours
9 credits at least 450 total working hours
12 credits at least 600 total working hours
Prerequisites: Requires permission of department chairperson or internship coordinator; these actors have discretion to work with any student whose scheduled work falls slightly below the working hour totals above. Political Science Majors must have completed at least 60 credits, including a minimum of 18 credit hours of POLS courses. Non-Political Science Majors must have completed 60 credits. Not open to any student who has credit in POLS 404.
