POLS 458 Sports and Entertainment Law
This course introduces students to concepts involved in the sports and entertainment industries. It explores how various bodies of substantive law are applied in the context of the entertainment and sports industry—both professional and amateur. The course examines the legal relationships among athletes, teams, leagues, governing bodies, sports facilities, licensees, broadcasters, and fans, as threaded together through contract, antitrust, labor, intellectual property, constitutional, and tort law. Course will also examine the legal relationships between agents, actors, studios, advertisers, labor unions, and fans in the entertainment industry.
