Major in Dance (BA/BS)

The BA/BS in dance is a general dance studies degree designed to support students with interests in teaching, choreography, and research. This degree provides students with opportunity to double major and pair dance with other areas of interest. Students have the option of selecting a Pedagogy or Choreography discipline focus. The Pedagogy focus guides students to develop advanced skills in teaching various styles of dance to students of all ages through multiple pedagogy courses and a teaching assistant assignments. The Choreography focus guides students through various choreographic processes and courses to hone skills in dance composition. With both of these areas of focus, students are still provided opportunity to take dance electives and technique classes. Students will be required to complete a portfolio process and Senior Capstone project that is geared towards their discipline focus. That capstone, THEA 434, must be taken for 3 hours.
