PEP 161 Introduction to Physical Education & Coaching
Introduction to the profession of physical education and athletic coaching. Explores philosophy, history, ethics, inclusive pedagogy, safety and risk management, practice and lesson planning, assessment literacy, technology use, and professional pathways. Includes field observations in school PE and sport settings and development of a standards‑aligned teaching/coaching philosophy and early professional portfolio.
Prerequisite: permission of the coordinator. Open only to Physical Education and Health Teacher Education majors, Kinesiology minors, and Coaching minors.
