HIST 150 The West in the World
This is a survey of the development of the West since its origins, with an emphasis on the period after 1500. The course examines the history of the West within a global context and explores how interactions and encounters with other civilizations shaped the West. The recurring themes of this course are social, economic, and political changes, intellectual and religious developments, population growth and migrations, breakthroughs in science and technology, international relations and globalization, and the changing relationship between humankind and the natural world.
