Minor in Music Theory and Composition
The Minor in Music Theory and Composition requires 26 credits in the core areas of music theory, music history, and music composition. Students may also enhance their personal musicianship through applied lessons on voice or an instrument and through participation in large ensembles. The aim of the program is to provide students with a solid foundation in music theory and adequate skills to arrange and compose music in various genres, styles, and traditions that align with student interest. The Minor in Music Theory and Composition is open to non-music majors ONLY. Admission to the program requires an interview with Music Composition faculty and may include a portfolio assessment.
