SOCW 540 Res Meth and Desgn
Introduces students to the scientific method as a form of knowledge development. Content in this course aims to help students understand how research is used to address social problems and evaluate social work practice and programs. Sample topics to be included are the role of concepts and theory, hypothesis formulation, operationalization, research design, data collection, and report writing. Prerequisite: SOCW 500 and 510 and 520 and 530 with a grade of B or better, or permission of the department chairperson. Parallel: SOCW 501 and 531 and 550 and 560. Open only to students accepted into the two-year Masters in Social Work program.
