THEA 100 The World of Theatre
Investigates theatre as more than something that happens on a stage, but as the heart of how we tell stories, explore big ideas, and discover what it means to be human. Connects those investigations to today’s entertainment forms such as Broadway hits, binge-worthy TV, blockbuster films, and even social media trends. Depending on section, content may be a broader look at all the aspects of theatre, including history, playwriting, performance, directing, and design, or a specific topic like Broadway Musicals, Shakespeare on Film, Theatrical Design, Black Theatre in America, etc. All sections will investigate the elements of theatre and how the art both shapes and reflects cultural, political, artistic, and economic forces of its time. Not open to students majoring in Theatre.
