MUST 112 Music Theory II
Continues with the study of tonal harmony and voice-leading in music of the common practice era (roughly 1750–1900). Topics of focus will be the conventions of thematic phrase structures, diatonic seventh chords, sequences, secondary dominant-class or “applied” harmonic functions, modulations to nearly-related keys, and binary and ternary formal designs and tonal architecture. Prerequisite: MUST 111 with a minimum grade of C.
