MUSE 265 Foundational Teaching and Learning in Music

This course will cultivate a broad and comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and processes of music teaching and learning through exploration of evidence-based teaching strategies and the development of skills students will need to provide content-specific instruction in music for themselves and/or others. Emphasis will be placed on demonstrating and using the evidence-based strategies for teaching and learning music by having students apply the strategies as they work to develop and enhance their own personal musicianship and critical listening skills throughout the course. Students of all backgrounds and experience levels will gain greater confidence in their ability to learn and perform music and create musical experiences for others. Prior musical training is not required.
