An overview of the process of reading texts with practical suggestions for developing analytic skills for reading and interpreting written communications, including literary and popular materials used in the English classroom. Designed to introduce an understanding of reading and language arts instruction in secondary ELA classrooms. Develops practices that support students' literacy learning and in planning and implementing a meaningful literacy program in secondary ELA classrooms. Offers an experience-based exploration of literacy education practices.
Pre-requisites: ENG 150 and ENG 230 with a grade of C or better.
