2026-2027 Undergraduate Catalog

Orientation

Domestic freshmen and transfer students participate in a required orientation program. Orientation is a learning experience that helps students understand academic and career expectations, become involved in collegiate life, and learn about the transition period students may experience as they enter college. During Orientation students meet with academic advisors, register for courses, and get their Ball State ID Card. Admitted students who have confirmed their enrollment and paid the non-refundable enrollment deposit will be invited to register for an orientation program date. Family members are encouraged to attend Orientation.

International students on an F or J visa who did not complete high school in the U.S. are required to participate in international student orientation. This program is designed to help orient international students to the unique aspects of studying and living in the U.S., providing essential information about cultural adjustment, immigration regulations, compliance with visa requirements, and available campus resources. Students will meet with International Services, work with Academic Advising to register for courses, and get their Ball State ID card. International orientation plays a key role in supporting students’ academic success and helping them integrate smoothly into campus life at Ball State.
