SPAA 611 Language-Learning Disabilities (LLD) in Schools

The advanced study of children with LLD is addressed relevant to assessment and treatment of school-age populations. Topics include federal and state laws, Section 504, service delivery models, individualized education programs, aligning common core state standards, reading and writing assessment and treatment, universal designs for learning, curriculum-based instruction, and a review of SLP services to multicultural/multilingual populations. Course emphasis is placed on contextual narrative and conversational analysis and treatment related to expository classroom demands and literature placed on children with LLD in schools.

Open only to SLP graduate students or permission of the department chairperson.
