FR 401 History of French and Francophone Literature
This course is designed to provide students with further study of texts and authors from French and Francophone literature. Students will develop a critical understanding of literary texts from the beginnings to the present. The course covers significant literary periods, e.g., the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Classical Age, the Enlightenment, and literary movements, e.g., Classicism, Romanticism. Works will be drawn from a variety of genres (poetry, essay, novels, etc.).
Prerequisite: FR 301 or FR 302 or equivalent, or permission of the department chairperson.
Recommended prerequisite: FR 360.
