ACR 313 Ceramics: Hand Building: The Figure in Clay/Mold Making Slip Casting/Firing and Surface Design

A continued study of ceramic hand-building techniques as well as further exploration of form and content in the ceramic medium. Material exploration, technique development and varied firing solutions will all be explored. Students will begin to develop a personal palate by mixing and testing basic clay bodies and glaze recipes. Historical and contemporary ceramic art and issues in the field will be discussed. One of three topics will be offered each semester: Slip casting and mold making, the figure, and surface design and firing. A total of 9 credits may be earned, but no more than 3 in any one semester or term.

Prerequisite: ACR 211 or by permission of instructor.

Open only to School of Art majors and minors.
