Major in Speech Pathology and Audiology (BA/BS)

Our major in speech pathology and audiology will empower you to help people overcome speech, cognitive (thinking), and swallowing disorders. As a pre-professional program, this major is for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a master’s degree in speech-language pathology or a doctoral degree in Audiology.

Admission requirements 

  • Admission to the clinical portion (SPAA 311 and SPAA 312) of this major is restrictive and selective. To enroll in SPAA 311 and SPAA 312 a student must apply and hold an overall GPA of 3.0 or better and have completed at least 30 semester credits. A student must also hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher in classes in the major and have completed SPAA 101, SPAA 210, SPAA 270 and SPAA 371 each with a grade of C or better. Students wishing to enroll in SPAA 311 and SPAA 312 should complete a permission request form. The form should be turned into the SPAA office by the end of the third week of the semester prior to the desired enrollment in SPAA 311 and SPAA 312.
