This course provides an in-depth exploration of public health surveillance, focusing on the design, implementation, and evaluation of surveillance systems. Students will gain practical skills in data collection, analysis, visualization, and interpretation to monitor and respond to public health issues. The course will cover various types of surveillance systems, including those for infectious diseases, chronic diseases, and environmental health. Emphasis will be placed on the use of surveillance data to inform public health policy and practice, as well as the ethical and legal considerations involved in surveillance activities.
Prerequisites: HSC 382 and HSC 383, each with a minimum grade of C.
