Course Load
The normal course load in a semester is 12 to 18 credits. (During a semester, 9 to 11 credits is considered a three-quarter-time load; 6 to 8 credits is considered a half-time load.) A total of twelve credits in a semester is considered a full course load for undergraduate students. Freshmen are recommended not to register for more than 18 credits unless they have met the following conditions:
- They have earned previous residence credit at Ball State University.
- They have cumulative grade-point averages of at least 3.0.
- They have successfully completed all of their scheduled courses in the preceding semester or term.
Students who are on academic probation may not register for more than 18 credits in a semester or term.
