Applied Business Studies

The Department of Applied Business Studies provides industry-specific educational opportunities for students who will show innovative leadership and creative problem-solving abilities in the fashion, hospitality, and property management industries. The department values the scholarly and applied contributions of its faculty and students, with strong involvement in industry activities and community engagement at the local, state, and national levels.  
  
Our vision is to be the leader in applied-business knowledge, emphasizing the connection between theory and practice to develop future leaders in the fashion, hospitality, and property management industries.    
 
Students may select programs in 
Fashion Industry Studies – exploration of the foundations of fashion design and merchandising as well as the theory and proactive in the industry including promotion, marketing, buying, manufacturing, and visual merchandising. 
Hospitality Innovation and Leadership – study of a blend of theory relating to management and financial service practices in the three main industry areas of event planning, food and beverage management, and hotel management. 
Property Management – covers the development, management, operation, marketing, legal and financial aspects of operating apartment/multi-family housing, commercial office, hospitality, retail, and other sectors of real estate investments that are operated for commercial purposes.
