An introduction to art and architecture created in Europe from the late fifth century to the early fifteenth century. Through the study of built environments, mosaics, sculptures, manuscripts, and other luxury arts, this course explores the social, political, and religious contexts that informed the aesthetic developments, function, and meaning of visual culture during the medieval period.
Prerequisite: AHS 100, or AHS 101, or AHS 102, or permission of the instructor.
