The Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education prepares educators to work with their school’s brightest students. The program will prepare educators to: Identify gifted and talented students; evaluate students and programs; design appropriate curricula for talent development; and meet the social and emotional needs of gifted students.
This completely online program is one of few in the nation that aligns with standards set by the National Association for Gifted Children-Council for Exceptional Children. The program has national accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
The program can be started in any semester and can be completed in as little as six months. For licensed teachers, the courses in the certificate can be applied to an add-on license in Gifted and Talented Education (Indiana only).

Students enrolled in this certificate may examine gifted identification, assessment, and evaluation practices at either the classroom level or at the program level. Students interested in being gifted coordinators should select EDPS 626, whereas, students interested in being classroom teachers should select EDPS 621.

Undergraduate students accepted to the Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) for this Certificate most commonly take EDPS 520, EDPS 621, EDPS 625 and one of EDPS 611 or EDPS 623.
