MATH 511 Abstract Algebra 1

Study of the theory of groups, including subgroups, cyclic groups, normal subgroups, cosets, Lagrange's Theorem, quotient structures, homomorphism, automorphisms, group actions, Sylow's Theorems, structure of finite abelian groups, generators, and relations. Prerequisite recommended: MATH 215, MATH 217 (or their equivalent). Not open to students who have credit in MATH 411.
