ENG 620 Linguistics for Educators
An introduction to the fundamentals of linguistics with special attention to the structure and use of English and how its features compare to those of other languages, with a focus on the application to the teaching of English. Learning community members will learn basic linguistic principles, key features of the sound system and grammatical structures of English, differences between oral and written language use, and selected cultural aspects of language use. Prerequisite: permission of the department chairperson.
