Data Science

Ball State’s online Master of Science in data science is an interdisciplinary program to prepare the next generation workforce in data science and related fields. The program is designed to integrate/enhance statistical reasoning and methodologies with robust computational skills. Data science is an interdisciplinary field and our MSDS program is carefully designed to generate a workforce equipped with data analytics, visualization, and computational tools to analyze data coming from any discipline. One of the distinctive features of our program is the blend of foundational courses with a wide range of courses in computing, analytics, and statistical modeling. Our student population in the program has diverse backgrounds including applied math, biology, business, computer science, engineering, health science, music, psychology, and others. We strive to maintain a high quality learning environment for our varied pool of learners.

The MSDS courses are hosted on the Coursera platform, which allows us to reach learners world-wide and impact their learning experience with flexibility and affordability. These classes are designed and taught by our highly skilled Ball State professors who are leaders in their respective fields. This program is built for learners of all educational backgrounds and career experiences. Admission to the program does not require prior background in data science, and admission to the program is handled through performance-based admissions. More information is available here.
