EdS in School Psychology
Candidates for the specialist degree in educational psychology Develop competencies in culturally relevant and responsive intervention, assessment, consultation, and prevention through course work, clinic- and field-based practica, and an internship through our Master of Arts/Specialist in Education in School Psychology Program. The course sequence also includes the study of human development, individual differences, learning, curriculum, research methods, and statistics to prepare you to be a scientist-practitioner-advocate. Our MA/EdS in school psychology program educates you in accordance with Indiana school psychology licensure requirements and National Association of School Psychologists standards. In order to be eligible for licensure through Ball State University, you must minimally complete all course requirements (69 semester hours) for the EdS program.

Degree requirements
Candidates for the specialist degree in educational psychology (school) at Ball State University must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of 69 graduate credits beyond the baccalaureate (that may include credit earned at the master’s degree level); the departmentally approved examination; the professional portfolio of evidence; and supervised practicum and internship experiences. Because the specialist degree is intended for those seeking school psychologist licensure in Indiana and other states, all course work must be approved by the program director. Check with the program director for any recent changes dictated by professional organizations or licensure requirements.
Regarding Practicum and Internships Variable Credit Courses: Students are required to take a total of 3 credits EDPS 688. Students are required to take a total of 6 credits of EDPS 689 (3 credits in each of two semesters). Finally, students are required to take a total of 6 credit hours of EDPS 690 (3 credits in each of two semesters); however, some students may have longer internships, and therefore, they need the option to take 3 credits for each semester of their internship. Students in this situation may earn up to 12 credits in EDPS 690.
