Introduction to mathematics for elementary teachers, with a focus on building mathematical proficiency — strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, productive disposition, conceptual understanding, and procedural fluency. In-depth exploration of counting, base-ten numbers, fractions, addition, subtraction, and multiplication, including analysis of children’s mathematical thinking and connections to the elementary mathematics curriculum.
