ANTH 207 Introduction to Medical Anthropology
This course provides an overview of the major topics in medical anthropology, primarily from a biocultural perspective. Broadly, medical anthropology is the study of human health, illness, disease, and the ways in which people across cultures identify and cope with these states of being. This course will explore a variety of topics related to health and illness, including ethnomedical systems, ethnopharmacology, infectious disease, nutrition, mental health, healers, and reproduction. Finally, the course will cover how medical anthropology is applied to the field of Global Health.
