The Department of Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies offers graduate programming focused primarily on early childhood. Students can complete our concentration in Early Childhood Education as part of the Master of Arts in Education in Elementary Education (see department of Elementary Education for more information).

We also offer two graduate certificates. The Early Childhood Administration certificate is designed to assist teachers who seek to direct an early learning program, directors seeking to improve their skills, and principals seeking greater understanding of the early childhood programs at their schools. The Early Childhood Education Master Teacher certificate is designed for teachers who seek to remain in the classroom but also serve as mentors to fellow teachers. Both certificates can be also be used to fulfill requirements in the Master of Arts in Education in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education or as a doctoral degree in the Department of Elementary Education. Online courses are developed and taught by full-time faculty members and are designed to fit the needs of adult learners.
