NUTR 655 Integrated and Functional Medicine

This survey course explores and compares alternative approaches to nutritional medical practices in relation to the Western medical-nutrition model. Homeopathic medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine, the Mediterranean diet to include the seven socio-environmental factors defined in the Blue Zone, yoga, meditation and other complementary and integrated medical practices will be weighed and evaluated for strength of evidence. Allied health students planning on working with ethnic minorities, especially Mexican-American and Asian-American populations and/or oncology patients will benefit. 

Prerequisite: NUTR 275 and NUTR 340.
