Current developments in human heredity. Human chromosome aberrations. DNA, the genetic code, and mutations. Consanguineous marriages and genetic defects. Mendelian principles applied to humans. Pedigrees and probability. Genetic screening and counseling. Social, ethical, and legal problems and advances in genetics.
Prerequisite: BIO 214 grade of "C" or higher; or permission of the instructor.
Prerequisite Recommended: BIO 215; BIO 314 or BIO315; CHEM 230
