The Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning is dedicated to the development of students' professional abilities in the functional, aesthetic, equitable, and sustainable design and construction of the physical environment. The college is committed to providing an exemplary context for teaching, learning, and working. We seek to grow both careers and engaged citizens through education, research and professional. ECAP programs develop graduates who are professionally prepared, ethically grounded, locally engaged, intellectually curious, creatively confident, and globally aware in the disciplines of architecture, construction management, historic preservation, interior design, landscape architecture, urban planning, and urban design.
Graduate degree programs in the college include Master of Architecture (M.ARCH) degree (two tracks - see department catalog pages); Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree (three tracks - see department catalog pages); Master of Science in Historic Preservation (MSHP); Master of Urban Design (MUD); Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP); Master of Science or Arts (MS or MA) in Interior Design. Graduate Certificate programs in the college include: Digital Design and Fabrication; High Performance Building Design; Historic Preservation; Social and Environmental Justice; Sustainability; Planning and Design of Healthcare Environments; and Real Estate Development. The College enrolls approximately 1100 undergraduate and graduate students with more than 100 faculty and professional staff members. The graduate curricula emphasize dedication, leadership, initiative, creativity, technical knowledge, innovative technologies, and social, environmental, ethical, and professional responsibilities.
The college and university facilities feature extensive resources that are accessible to both students and faculty. The Andrew Seager Archive of the Built Environment maintains architectural, planning, and landscape architectural drawings and other materials documenting significant historic sites and structures in Indiana. Additional facilities in the college include wood and metal shops, design build lab, virtual reality simulation lab, computer labs, laser cutters and 3D printing labs, KUKA Robotic Arm, CNC Router, Helidon, Center for Energy Research/Education/Service (CERES), Design + Build Laboratory, and state-of-the-art student-centered Robert G. Hunt Center for Construction Management. The College has remote facilities including maker spaces in Muncie MadJax and Muncie Makes Lab, and studio and wood shop in the new Ball State CAP: INDY on Elevator Hill in Indianapolis's near-eastside. Currently ONE YEAR of the M.Arch program and the entirety of the Master in Urban Design program resides at Ball State CAP: INDY.
